Potato Chip Rock Trail
Sometimes you find a free parking spot near an irresistible hiking trail, and next thing you know, you're up here, thousands of feet above the mundanity, looking at something like this. Someone, or some people, decided to stack small rocks inside the spaces of this much larger rock. It's such a hot day, and you begin to imagine these people who still seem to have loads of energy to spare for rock stacking during a reprieve to the still relatively far away summit. People can be really cool. I’m so deeply consumed in hurt and confused loneliness as my fiancĂ© spends money we don’t have on illegal immigrant prostitutes, disappearing for hours, making hundreds of dollars vanish too while Google Maps says he’s been in the bushes behind Joes Hardware all this time?! He turns into his evil Mr Hyde side more frequently lately, sending and receiving cryptic messages for meet-ups with Brothaz United, then goes insane, shutting off all power at the breaker switch, leaving me fumbling to the sound of my own heartbeat in utter darkness, while he creeps into another row of bushes two doors down and I crawl around discovering that he’s also hidden all of the flashlights and glow sticks for his fifteen minute “test” of my ingenuity. Time slows and normalcy surrounds me again. I notice that somehow the awesome stillness of nature is coupled with human creativity in today’s healing adventure and remind myself that two nuts don’t spoil a giant banana spilt....
