My Son's Middle School Graduation

My son graduated today and it was somewhat surreal.  I kept feeling like it snuck up on me too soon.  He looks so handsome and confident that my heart keeps swelling with pride.  I've done well.  I have had to teach and reteach personal hygiene, advanced math, science and Spanish,  along with his teachers, in order to get him this far because for some unknown reason, he really doesn't like school, especially English.   I've been an English teacher for nine years.  Now there's some irony that just makes me gape sometimes.  His favorite books are all about how middle school years are the worst years in all of life.  But hey, he's read them all, so I'm happy.  I got him somewhat beyond the comic book copouts, which upon reading, even I have to say are pretty darn cool nowadays, particularly Deadpool, Walking Dead and The Last of Us.  If you have a boy you want to get reading more, I highly recommended them, but they are violent, so explain many times over that it's gratuitous and not real.  My daughter, only one year younger, has always been a voracious reader just like me, and didn't take to the comics much beyond Garfield, also just like me:D I'm so giddy though because  Cody actually started A Tale of Two Cities and is now reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea!  I'm feeling special:D What a great time!
