Plateaus

I dislike plateaus very much when they become obstacles to body conditioning.  This time, I decided to nip it in the bud and start running again.  I both love and hate running.  It's great for body shaping, can be fit in anytime and accomplishes fitness goals quickly.  At the same time, it causes extreme fatigue, dehydration and soreness in unexpected places.  Do it anyway.  That smug doctor said it will age you, but so will time.  Do it everyday and sometimes twice a day.  See if you can get to that park and back without stopping.  I know it's a mile.  See how fast you can go.   What's the worst thing that will happen?  or rather, how many others will you inspire?  But it will get boring, eventually.  Ah.  There's the rub.  Don't run the same route.  Do some hiking one day instead.  Play tennis another.  Rake the yard the next day.  Really?  Yes.  Run another time.  You've hit a plateau, right?  So why do the same thing?  Change it up.  Race that Costco girl to the short check-out.  Kidding.  Let her go.  You were meant for a slower line, to assist the lonely elderly person with just the right conversation.....
