Shopping

My tastes have changed drastically over the past twenty years, but one thing remains true, and that is that I have great difficulty budgeting when visiting my favorite stores.  I've tried various ways of tightening the pockets, such as goal & limit setting, and list and budget making, but my eyes light up like Christmas bulbs when I walk into a home improvement store these days.  Whereas I used to venture little beyond the gardening center, I have recently come to realize that I could change out all of our exterior light fixtures, thereby increasing the aesthetics and value of our home, and at the same time cut down on electricity costs.  Just browsing couldn't hurt, right?  Except that from the pine and lumber on one end to the petunias on the other, the place smells truly awesome!  All of these different pungent aromas blast the senses, tempting me to better everything in life with a few small purchases and some elbow grease.  Control yourself, woman!  Get a grip and stick to that list:  lattice for bougainvillea, window wash and some more dusting polish.  Then again,  I could use a couple more plants...
