Scrabblers
I really want to play Scrabble, but Titan Fall just came out so it would be silly of me to whip out an archaic board game. I was sucked into the Pinterest, Facebook, and Candy Crush vortexes respectively, but I've come out on the other sides stronger, and now must feed the digital machine a dose of its own medicine, just to remind it who's really in charge here. Imagine my surprise when three nights ago, my son Cody wanted to play Scrabble. Then, my Lexi, moody and miserable grudgingly joined in. My heart leapt! I let her trade letters to make "invasion," the third time I helped her. It was weird too, because we all kind of became irritated with the game at the same time, and quit before it was over, but not before I felt that profound and peaceful pride a parent feels when their kids want to do what they do. It's like a silent show of respect, a sweeping open of a door, a patient curtsy. My kids are really neat.
